Operation Encompass​

Happy Bears Early Years Ltd is proud to be part of Operation Encompass, a national safeguarding initiative that helps early years settings support children who may have been affected by domestic abuse.

​

Operation Encompass enables the police to share important, confidential information with our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) before the start of the next day. This means that if a child has been involved in or exposed to a domestic incident, we can offer sensitive, timely and appropriate support as soon as they arrive at nursery.

​

We do not receive detailed information — only what is necessary to help us understand that a child may need extra emotional reassurance, calm routines or additional nurture.

Being part of Operation Encompass helps us to:

• Provide immediate emotional support and comfort

• Adjust routines to meet a child’s needs

• Understand changes in behaviour, tiredness or anxiety

• Work closely with families and professionals

• Offer early help in line with EYFS 2026 safeguarding requirements

 

Only our DSL team receives Operation Encompass notifications, and all information is handled with the highest level of confidentiality.
